Gimsøystraumen Bridge Norway (2022) is maintained using titanium net CP monitoring
In 2022, Protector-Technology was contracted to enhance corrosion protection on the iconic Gimsøystraumen Bridge — a critical link along the E10 route in Lofoten. Due to the region’s harsh marine environment, traditional cathodic protection systems faced accelerated wear. Protector-Technology implemented a titanium net cathodic protection (CP) monitoring system, designed to deliver long-term performance with minimal maintenance.
The installation included a custom-engineered titanium mesh integrated into the bridge’s concrete surfaces, connected to remote CP monitoring units providing real-time data on current distribution and potential levels. This system ensured optimal protection against chloride-induced corrosion and extended the bridge’s service life without intrusive maintenance operations.
Today, the Gimsøystraumen Bridge stands as a model for sustainable infrastructure preservation, combining advanced materials technology with digital monitoring to safeguard Norway’s coastal assets for decades to come.
